TRIO Student Support Services (TRIOSSS) supports students who are working toward their first college degree. You may be eligible to apply if you are a U.S. citizen or meet federal residency requirements, are not currently enrolled in the STEP program, and meet at least one eligibility criterion. Priority is given to students who are first‑generation college students, meet low‑income guidelines or have a documented disability through Access & Disability Resources.
Who Is Eligible to Apply
You may be eligible for TRIOSSS if you:
- Are a United States citizen or national, or meet federal residency requirements for student financial aid.
- Are not currently enrolled in the STEP program.
- Are working toward your first college degree and do not already have a bachelor’s degree.
- Meet at least one eligibility criterion, with priority given to students who meet two or more.
Eligibility criteria include:
- First‑generation college student: Your parent or guardian did not earn a bachelor’s degree before you turned 18.
- Low‑income: Your family’s taxable income for the previous year was at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level.
- Documented disability: You are registered with RCC’s Access & Disability Resources.

Low‑income eligibility is based on family size and income. Income limits reflect 150 percent of the federal poverty level.
- A single‑person household: $23,475
- Two‑person household: $31,725
- Three‑person household: $39,975
- Four‑person household: $48,225
- Five‑person household: $56,475
- Six‑person household: $64,725
- Seven‑person household: $72,975
- Eight‑person household: $81,225
- Each additional family member: $5,500
Income thresholds differ for Alaska and Hawaii.
