Apprenticeship Programs - How It Works
A registered apprenticeship is your pathway to a skilled career. You'll work full-time in your trade with an approved employer while taking evening or weekend classes. This combination of paid work experience and classroom instruction means you're building expertise and earning money at the same time. When you complete your program, you'll earn a nationally recognized credential that proves to employers you're ready for the job. These programs are regulated by state and federal labor agencies to ensure quality training and fair treatment for all apprentices.
RCC partners with industries to offer registered apprenticeships approved by state and federal agencies. These programs meet rigorous standards and prepare you for careers in skilled trades where local demand is growing and opportunities are expanding.

Expectations & Support
Apprenticeship programs require dedication — you're committing to thousands of hours of on-the-job training and hundreds of hours of classroom instruction over several years. The application and enrollment process takes time, and acceptance is not immediate or guaranteed. For many of our programs, you must be employed by a participating training agent before you can be registered as an apprentice. We encourage you to keep your current employment while you complete the application process and meet your program's enrollment requirements. We're here to guide you through each step.

Training & Advancement
Your apprenticeship combines supervised work with an approved training agent and related classroom instruction at RCC. You'll progress through structured levels, gaining more responsibility and higher pay as you master new skills. Many programs offer the option to earn an associate degree or certificate by adding general education courses to your required apprenticeship classes. After completing your program and passing the state licensing exam, you'll hold a journeyman card and professional credentials that open doors to advanced positions and higher earnings.
