Lifelong Learners (Age 62+) Program

Love learning for the joy of it? If you're an Oregon resident 62 or older, you can take college courses using tuition waivers to limit your costs. Tuition waivers cover up to eight credits per term. Discover new subjects while paying only for course fees, books and supplies.

Ways to Learn

The Lifelong Learners Program is designed to support continued learning and personal enrichment for Oregon residents aged 62 and older. You can attend without receiving credit or grades (Audit/AU). Enrollment is on a space-available basis, ensuring regular students are accommodated first.

Eligibility

Anyone who: 

  • Is an Oregon resident.
  • Is 62 or older.
  • Is able to read and write at the level expected for the course.
  • Is taking the class just for fun! 

Lifelong Learners may not register for classes in Career and Technical Education or Special Admissions programs. All courses in the following programs are not eligible for the Lifelong Learner tuition waiver: Allied Health, Apprenticeship, Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Automotive Technology, Business Technology, Dental Assistant, Diesel Technology, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Services, Fire Science, Health Care, Human Development, Human Services, Manufacturing, Massage Therapy, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Medical Office Assistant, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Paramedicine, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Practical Nursing, Service Learning and Welding. Workforce Training (WRK) and Community Education (CED) classes are also not eligible for the tuition waiver.

Steps to Get Started

  • Apply to RCC as a Lifelong Learner. 
  • Choose the course(s) you'd like to take.*
  • Fill out the Lifelong Learner Course Request Form.
    • Students using the lifelong learner tuition discount do not receive credit for course(s); instead they will receive an Audit (AU). Audit (AU) is an enrollment status, which allows students to take credit classes but not receive credit or a grade.
  • RCC will contact you to confirm your registration. Please note: Your course request will be processed two weeks prior to the start of the term. 

*Not all classes are offered every term. Please check the Schedule of Classes for class availability.
