The Boiler Operator Apprenticeship Program accepts applications year-round.
To apply for the apprenticeship program, applicants must be employed by an approved training agent for a minimum of 500 hours and selected by that training agent for apprenticeship.
Application Process
Applying for an apprenticeship requires planning and preparation. Employment opportunities and hiring requirements vary by training agent. Training agents may have their own hiring practices, which may include interviews, background checks, drug screening, possession of a valid driver's license, or other employer-specific requirements.
Step 1: Meet the Minimum Requirements
Review the minimum qualifications for the Boiler Operator Apprenticeship Program to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements.
Step 2: Secure Employment with an Approved Training Agent
Applicants who are not currently employed by an approved training agent must seek employment with a training agent before applying to the apprenticeship program.
Individuals interested in applying are encouraged to seek employment, including entry-level positions, with an approved training agent. A list of approved training agents and information on how to search for training agents is available through Oregon BOLI Apprenticeship and searching for program MA #5010.
Step 3: Submit an Online Apprenticeship Application
Eligible employees who have completed the required 500 hours of employment with an approved training agent and have been selected by the training agent for apprenticeship must complete and submit the online apprenticeship application through WorkHands.
The application must include all required supporting documentation, including a letter from the approved training agent confirming current employment, completion of at least 500 hours of employment, and selection for apprenticeship.
Step 4: Complete Apprenticeship Registration and Onboarding
Applications will be reviewed to verify that minimum qualifications and required documentation have been met. Applicants who meet all requirements will be accepted into the apprenticeship program and scheduled for a registration and onboarding meeting to complete apprenticeship registration and RCC enrollment.
