Schedule Overview
This certificate can be completed in one year or less. Classes focus on industrial welding and lean into GTAW and FCAW techniques. Each course builds on previous learning as you move to more advanced gas-arc welding techniques.
- First Term: Industrial Welding I and Selected Topics Lab.
- Second Term: Industrial Welding III and Selected Topics Lab.
You’ll spend extended time in the welding lab working on projects you choose with your instructor. These projects are designed to build your technical skills in self-shielded and/or gas-shielded flux core welding on carbon steel and aluminum in all positions.
You’ll finish your certification with a capstone project that puts your skills to the test. You’ll apply real trade practices — like welding, project design, layout, finishing, planning and estimating — to create a finished piece that demonstrates your technical abilities.
Graduation Requirements
The Wire Welder Career Pathway Certificate requires the completion of 24 program credits and 4 prerequisite credits, which may be waived based on placement. Students must complete all courses outlined in this program with a grade of “C-” or better to earn a certificate. Some required courses are graded on a pass/no pass basis. A grade of “P” for these courses indicates whether a student earned the equivalent of a “C-” or better grade.
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor or faculty advisor before beginning any coursework.

Credit for Prior Learning
The Wire Welder program may be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning, meaning your work experience, training or other learning outside the classroom could count for college credit — helping you save time and reduce costs.
