The Welder’s Helper Career Pathway Certificate at Rogue Community College gets you ready for an entry-level role in the welding world. If you’re aiming to become a full-time welder, this two-term program is the perfect first step to gain real hands-on experience employers love to see.
Welders don’t work solo — helpers keep everything running smoothly. You’ll handle setups, materials and safety tasks so welders can stay focused on creating strong, clean welds. It’s a key role that keeps the whole workflow moving.
Common Duties
- Get the workspace ready by clearing hazards and organizing materials.
- Help set up equipment and take care of basic maintenance.
- Make sure welders have what they need — rods, grinding discs and other tools.
- Keep the work area clean and safe. Use basic welding tools and machines under supervision.
Program Highlights
You’ll train in a professional, fully equipped welding lab designed to support real industry learning. You’ll work with serious equipment like multi-process welders, a 100-ton press brake, hydraulic rollers, shears and a CNC plasma cutter. RCC has two training centers: one on our Redwood Campus in Grants Pass and the other at the High Tech Center on Table Rock Campus in White City. They are both well-equipped, modern spaces where you can explore different career paths and even spark your entrepreneurial side.
- Finish in just two terms so you can get into the workforce fast.
- Train when it fits your schedule with RCC’s open-access lab model.
- Learn from instructors with real-world industrial experience.
- Use professional tools and equipment.
- Get ready for American Welding Society (AWS) certification or licensing.
