The Automotive Specialist certificate from Rogue Community College is a great way to get started in the auto repair world. Cars and trucks are changing fast, and shops really need trained workers. In this one-year program, you’ll learn the basics you need for entry-level jobs at car dealerships and repair shops.
You’ll work with instructors to understand how engines, drive trains, electrical systems and electronics all fit together. In the auto labs, you’ll get hands-on practice finding problems and making repairs.
If you want even more training to become a full entry-level technician, you can go on to earn the Automotive Technology Associate of Applied Science degree.
Program Highlights
In the on-campus automotive technology shop, you will learn in a hands-on, real-world setting to:
- Take apart and rebuild a gasoline engine.
- Overhaul and repair different automotive system parts.
- Maintain, diagnose and fix manual transmissions, clutches and drive axles.
- Repair starting and charging systems using diagnostic tools and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Meet industry expectations for an entry-level automotive worker.
- Finish in one year.
