Return of Title IV Funds

Rogue Community College follows federal regulations that require a fair and equitable process when students who receive federal financial aid withdraw from classes. If you officially or unofficially withdraw from all your classes, your financial aid may need to be adjusted.

Return of Title IV Policy

The Return of Title IV Funds policy applies to RCC students who are eligible to receive federal financial aid and withdraw from all classes. Official drops and withdrawals occur when a student withdraws online in myRogue or contacts the Registrar’s office. Unofficial withdrawals occur when a student stops attending and receives any combination of F, NP, and W grades.

How Earned and Unearned Aid is Calculated

A federal formula calculates the amount of aid that a student earns using the withdrawal date. In general, the percentage of aid that a student earned is based on the percentage of the term that was completed. Unearned aid must be returned.

What This Means for You 

  • If you complete more than 60% of the term, you have earned all of your federal financial aid and do not need to return Title IV funds. 
  • If you complete 60% or less of the term, you may be required to repay a portion of your federal financial aid.
If Aid Must Be Returned 
  • The Financial Aid Office will notify you by your RCC student email. 
  • You are responsible for repaying RCC the amount of unearned aid. 
  • Unpaid balances may impact your ability to receive additional financial aid at RCC or other colleges.
