What are Transfer Transcripts?

Transfer transcripts are academic records from another college, university or training organization. RCC reviews these transcripts to determine which credits can be applied to your declared degree or certificate.

There are two types of transfer transcripts:

  • Official transcripts.
  • Unofficial transcripts.

Each type serves a different purpose in the Placement Process and credit evaluation.

Official Transfer Transcripts

An official transcript is a certified academic record issued by an institution. It includes the school seal and Registrar’s signature and is delivered in a secure format.

When To Submit Official Transcripts

Submit official transcripts if you want:

  • Previous coursework evaluated for RCC college credit.
  • Credits applied to your degree or certificate.

Course descriptions are required for classes completed before 1992. Contact your previous school to obtain these and submit them

Once all official transcripts are received, evaluation may take up to eight weeks. Submitting transcripts early helps avoid delays and keeps you on track.

How To Submit Official Transcripts

Official transcripts must arrive sealed or by secure delivery.

You may submit them by:

  • Dropping off sealed transcripts at Rogue Central during business hours.
  • Sending secure electronic transcripts through an approved service such as Parchment.
  • Mailing transcripts to: Rogue Community College Attn: Enrollment Services 3345 Redwood Highway Grants Pass, OR 97527

Opened transcripts are not accepted as official.

Unofficial Transfer Transcripts

An unofficial transcript is an academic record without a seal or signature. These transcripts may be downloaded from another college’s website or created by opening an official transcript.

When To Submit Unofficial Transcripts

You may submit unofficial transcripts if they include college-level writing or math and you want help with your first-term Placement Process.

Course descriptions are required for classes completed before 1992. Submit these to Student Records at studentrecordsFREERogue%20Community%20College.

U.S. College Transfer Credits

RCC may accept lower-division, 100-level or 200-level courses from regionally accredited colleges if the courses:

  • Earned a grade of C- or better.
  • Apply to your RCC program.
  • Match RCC courses in content, credit hours and learning outcomes.
  • Were taught by qualified instructors.

Approved credits can reduce the number of classes you need to take at RCC.

International Transcripts

If you completed coursework outside the United States, RCC requires a credential evaluation from an approved external agency.

To submit international transcripts: · Choose an evaluation agency that is a current member of NACES.

  • Request a course-by-course or comprehensive evaluation with grades.
  • Have the official evaluation mailed directly to RCC.
  • After receipt, submit a Transfer Credit Evaluation Request.

Military Transcripts

RCC evaluates military training using guidance from the American Council on Education.

To receive military credit: · Submit an official Joint Services Transcript.

  • Credits are reviewed for equivalency to RCC courses.
  • At least three credits in health and physical education are awarded for basic training.
  • No more than 25 percent of total program credits may come from Credit for Prior Learning.
