Right from application, advisors work with you to explore career options, choose a program of study and create a clear course plan, your pathway, that guides you from your first day of class to graduation.

Every RCC program has a Program Map available on the college’s catalog website.

Your Program Map shows:

  • Which courses you need to complete your program or prepare for transfer.
  • The recommended order of classes.
  • How long it typically takes to reach your goal. 

These clear paths reduce guesswork and help you move through college efficiently.

Help Choosing the Right Direction

Advisors support you as you explore programs, career options, job outlooks and wages. Together, you build an academic plan that fits your goals and life circumstances.

If you are undecided, you can still get started by choosing a broad area of interest through Guided Pathways. GED® students may also begin college‑level courses sooner, including courses connected to their interests, which helps maintain momentum and engagement.

Your academic plan is shared between you and your advisor, making it easy to monitor progress and adjust when needed. If challenges arise, early alert systems help advisors connect you with support such as tutoring or additional advising.

RCC also works to remove barriers by addressing scheduling issues and minimizing course delays whenever possible.
